Chapel Mt. St. Dominic - NJ
The Chapel of Mt. St. Dominic was built in the 19th Century for Sisters of the Dominican Order. The Chapel with its dark, stained-glass windows, enclosed the space and symbolized the Sisters withdraw from the world. After a change in liturgical direction, the Sisters decided to renovate the Chapel and adapt it to the new concepts. In our redesign, the opaque windows were replaced with clear glass, admitting natural light into the space, the altar was placed facing the congregation, and the original sanctuary transformed by a low, curved wall into a small space for prayer and meditation.
