Diller Quaile School of Music - New York, New York
The Diller-Quaile School of Music, to expand and meet the demand for new classes, purchased an adjacent townhouse. The design program for the new building included the addition of an elevator, fire stairs, new studios and office space, and a performance space to accommodate 99 people. The architects devised a structural system which allowed the performance space to be constructed without disrupting normal school activities. In the design of the renovation, acoustics were given primary consideration and the floor of the space was constructed with flexibility to enhance dance performances.
