Catherine Atzen Day Spa - New York, New York
The client planned a beauty salon and spa on the East Side of Manhattan. While the location was excellent, the property itself had a dark, somber facade and a small display window. To solve this problem, the architects designed a two-story storefront of metal and glass. This solution unified the appearance of store and allowed light to penetrate into the shop's upper rooms. The salon interior features liberal use of white tiles, with soft blue accents. On both floors an arched ceiling provides a sense of extra height. The overall effect is one of cleanliness and good health.
