Alfredo De Vido | Architects
Lobby Renovation, 108 East 16th Street - New York, New York
The ground floor of this 1920's building has been awkwardly modernized in the 1950's by placing metal planeling over the carved stonework. The architects stripped off the metal cladding, cleaned and restored the stonework, and provided an open lobby and storefront in harmony with the building. Color was introduced into the storefront, and wood and various shades of marble were utilized in the new lobby. New lighting, a directory, and cushioned seating at the entrance completed the renovation.
