Snow King Inn - Jackson Hole, WY
This hotel/conference center is located at the edge of Jackson's residential area at the base of Snow King Mountain, a popular recreation spot. The owner wanted uninterrupted access to the mountain and required generous spaces within the building. The program called for a center with 100 guest rooms and supportive services. The resulting scheme has building ranging from one to six stories. The contours of the mountain and surrounding terrain helped shape the profiles of the medium-rise wing and connecting facilities. The central facility is steel-framed with wood trusses to permit large spans and vertical spaces. Natural cedar was chosen for the exterior. The balconies and windows of the guest room wings give the scale to the structure and link it to the architecture of the region. Each room has a striking view of the landscape.
