Architect's House & Office - Manhattan, New York
In the process of looking for a new office and dwelling, the archtiect came across a mid-1800's clapboard house in need of major renovation. The decision was made to purchase the house and divide it into an office, a dwelling, and a rental apartment. Exploratory research and probes revealed some of the early aesthetic, subsequently restored. Rooms were redesigned with proportional system of cabinetry and cornices. Throughout, the design intent is to evoke and enhance the past rather than emulate it.
