Saddle River House - Saddle River, NJ
Originally a ranch style house, the architects were commissioned to improve the exterior and the entrance, to bring more light into the interior, and to achieve a better flow of space. A wide, curved staircase rises from the new entry to the main level of the house; the stair is tucked below two gables added to the original house to provide additional space and increase dimensions. Inside, the ceiling below the attic was removed to reveal interesting tie beams, which were wrapped with sheetrock to achieve another visual layer in the room. This process also opened up the spaces to give a lofty feel.
