De Vido House - East Hampton, NY
The project has been an ongoing series of addition using wood as the primary building material. The basic house, completed in 1968, was 1,200 square feet. A prime structural element of the house is a large wood X truss supporting a 5-foot cantilever. Sunlight filtering from windows and skylights into the wood-lined rooms creates a warm and glowing atmosphere. Recent additions include a vestibule on the front facade, two bedrooms and an expanded kitchen in the rear, and various garden structures in the landscape.
